Consider selecting a range hood, not just to ensure your kitchen maintains a flawless design element, but also to keep harmful carcinogens out of your home. Every time you cook, some amount of smoke is created. With a dedicated range hood, you can ensure that it is all removed from your home and that ultimately, your family is kept safe.
How do you know how high above your range your range hood should be installed? That's an excellent question, and believe it or not, one that we receive quite often! To answer this question, we'll need some preliminary information. What type of cooktop do you have? Different types of cooktops may have different ventilation needs. For example, gas ranges tend to generate a lot of heat, and negatively impact the air quality around them while you are cooking. On the other hand, electric stovetops do not have the same types of output. This means that you'll absolutely need to shift your range hood higher with a gas stovetop, but can go at the same height, or even lower, for electric stovetops.
The calculations aren't over at range height, though. You'll also want to consider the overall size of your brand-new kitchen ventilation system. Think about the range hood's capture area. You'll want to be sure to select a range hood width that is commensurate to the cooking surface you are utilizing, to ensure that all gas and harmful toxins are captured during your cooking process and swiftly removed from your home. And please don't forget--if these decisions feel at all overwhelming, our dedicated customer support team is standing by, happy to help you navigate these choices.
